Celebrating our seventh Koji Usaka collection with a Solo Exhibition, one of the largest selections to be offered outside of Japan. Welcome to the magical world of Koji Usaka! Ceramic pieces are imbued with folklore and the imagination of this acclaimed potter, who has been creating functional artworks since 1980, when he established his first kiln in Tochigi, Japan. He and his wife and a sculptor, Yayoi, are most famous for their hand-painted Aka-e (red) or Seimon (multi-color) glazed ceramics that adorn masterfully crafted pieces. His works are instantly recognizable and contain a whole universe of their own. The designs often include a detailed arabesque pattern with the moon, clouds, mountains, and even forest creatures, making Hokkaido such a special place.
