Sohei Takashima is a talented, young ceramicist who was the apprentice under the guidance of legendary potter and National Living Treasure, Isezaki Jun. Despite his young age, Takashima's unique style has already earned him recognition, including the top prize in the "Tea Ceramic" category at the Japan Ceramic Association Contemporary Ceramic Art Exhibition. His passion for pottery was ignited during his university years, when he was captivated by the beauty of Yuteki Tenmoku ware and eventually drawn to the essence of Bizen ware. Takashima's work showcases a softer touch compared to his mentor's sharp, sculptural pieces, focusing on teapots that embody the essence of Bizen. While heavily influenced by Isezaki Jun, Takashima's pieces exhibit a sense of peace and sophistication beyond his years.
