Organic Aged Gongmei 2016
The most common white tea is Silver Needle consisting of only the first unopened buds of a tea plant. For tea making, you can use up to the fourth or fifth leaf from the tip of the branch. Each leaf has its grade and also a unique taste and aroma. The first two leaves tend to have most of the natural sugars and make up the aroma of tea, whereas the third and fourth make up the body of the taste.
Gongmei is traditional sun-whithered white tea using mature leaves with robust taste and aroma. This grade of white tea falls between Bai Mu Dan and Shoumei and has an elegant, expressive taste from the oolong cultivar used, a hybrid of Tie Guan Yin and Huang Dan. Aging has helped bring down caffeine and further develop its taste.
