Taisuke Shiraiwa
Taisuke Shiraiwa (白岩大佑) was guided by two pivotal mentors who played a significant role in shaping his artistic career. He received instruction from a university professor prior to engaging in a formal apprenticeship with a master of kyūsu crafting. Shiraiwa's most influential instructor is Konishi Yohei (小西洋平), who is designated as a "Holder of Intangible Cultural Property" in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture. Under Konishi's tutelage, Shiraiwa acquired proficiency in the fundamental techniques of Tokoname-style kyūsu (teapot) production, emphasizing wheel-thrown forms, meticulous craftsmanship, and the utilization of Tokoname clay. His training under Konishi Yohei was conclusive. After his return to Hokkaido and the establishment of his own studio, Shiraiwa advanced from student to peer and collaborator. By the year 2012, they were engaged in joint exhibitions, which distinctly indicated Shiraiwa's accomplished skills and recognition.
