The Apple Tetsubin Water Kettle is a unique, whimsical-shaped traditional kettle made by a cooperative, Kanakeno, led by Tayama Takahiro. This group empowers young artisans by teaching them the craft of kettle-making. Designed to be more efficient in production, an apprentice can make this kettle entirely, unlike traditional methods that take over ten years to learn. Each piece is numbered with the initials of the craftsmen involved, making each one special and one-of-a-kind. In Japan, Kanakeno Apple Tetsubins are made to order and unavailable at retail stores.
*When placing the flame on the stove, use the smallest burner, keep the flame on medium/low, and avoid having the flame climb up the sides and leave marks on the kettle. The kettle's color will change gradually over time. This method is perfectly suited for induction stoves!
