Fang Mei Xu began her apprenticeship with the renowned National Arts artist, Jie Ping Lu, in 1996. Her minimalist style conveys emotions through subtle changes in texture and pattern, which have become her signature.
Yuan Kuang Jiang Po Ni is a unique and increasingly rare type of Zisha clay discovered during road construction in Huanglong Mountain, Yixing in the 1990s. Named after its discovery site ("降坡" meaning "slope reduction"), this clay combines characteristics of both Hongni (红泥) and Zini (紫泥), creating a distinctive texture and color. It pairs best with Medium- to High-Roast Oolongs and Raw Pu-erh. Its balanced properties help to refine the tea, smoothing out astringency while maintaining fragrance.
There is an artistic and functional standard for evaluating Yixing teapots that refines the tea-making process solely based on appearance. After considering the quality of the material, a balance exists between beauty and function. As tea lovers, we are drawn to shape and style, which enhance the flavor of tea. These classic, refined shapes provide a perfect canvas for creating a deep luster and patina over time.
