Jian Fang Sun is a national arts and crafts artist who began working in the purple clay industry in 1991. Her first teacher was Wang Caiying, and she was later instructed and supervised by Master Cheng Hui. Shui Ping is the quintessential shape and a must-have vessel for any tea enthusiast.
Yuan Kuang Da Hong Pao is a premium variety of Zisha clay, classified as Zhuni (朱泥). Named for its vivid vermilion hue resembling the robes of imperial officials, it is exceptionally rare and sourced mainly from Huanglong Mountain and Zhaozhuang in Yixing, Jiangsu. Over time, it develops a beautiful bronze tone that is impossible to replicate. It pairs best with High-Aroma Oolongs and Black Teas. Specifically, experts often pair this type of red clay with Wuyi Rock Oolongs (which includes the Da Hong Pao tea) to complement their mineral depth.
There is an artistic and functional standard for evaluating Yixing teapots that refines the tea-making process solely based on appearance. After considering the quality of the material, a balance exists between beauty and function. As tea lovers, our propensity is for shape and style, which enhances the flavor of tea. These classic, refined shapes provide a perfect canvas for creating a deep luster and patina over time.
