Yiwu is one of the Six Famous Puerh Tea Mountains and served as the starting point of the Ancient Tea Horse Road. It has a long history of producing "Imperial tea" or "tribute tea" for Chinese palaces, establishing an early reputation for exceptional quality.
The Yiwu region is located in a primitive forest conservation base with a balanced ecosystem. The specific natural conditions—including climate, water, and soil acidity—are ideal for growing tea trees, resulting in leaves rich in beneficial compounds.Yiwu Sheng Puerh is highly valued for its aging potential. When young, Yiwu offers a lively, fruity profile. With proper storage, it matures over the years into a richer, smoother, and more intricate tea with notes of wood, honey, and medicinal qualities.
Yiwu is a large region made up of many smaller villages, each adding subtle differences. Notable villages such as Mahei, Luo Shui Dong, and Gua Feng Zhai help shape Yiwu's tea diversity. Sheng Puerh from Yiwu is renowned for its naturally soft, sweet, and intricate flavor, often called the "Queen of Puerh". This fame derives from its longstanding history as tribute tea and its distinctive terroir.
