The Bulang Mountain tea region is famous for producing robust, bitter, and intensely pungent teas. Yet, Naka distinguishes itself with its elegance, fragrant aroma, and sweetness. This unique quality has earned it the nickname "Bulang Queen," highlighting its refined character compared to the more powerful neighboring teas. Naka's most notable feature is its rich, intricate aroma, often likened to orchids or honey, yielding a smooth, sweet, velvety brew. Unlike some Bulang teas known for their harsh bitterness, Naka's bitterness is subtle and quickly shifts into a pronounced, cooling sweetness in the throat, known as "huigan."
The tea liquor is usually thick and smooth, with a clear and crisp mineral undertone often referred to as "rock rhyme." This feature provides a refreshing feeling and helps extend its aftertaste. Naka sheng pu'er combines elegance with strength, making it highly desirable. The region is renowned for its unique small-leaf tea tree variety, known as Xiaoye Zhong. This small-leaf cultivar is uncommon in Xishuangbanna, where broad-leaf types are more prevalent. It is considered a key reason for the tea's distinctive floral and sweet notes.
Historically, Naka was one of the "Three Famous Villages" of Bulang Mountain and provided tribute tea for local chieftains and the Burmese royal family. This heritage enhances its prestige and affirms its long-standing quality. Naka sheng pu'er offers a rare blend of floral elegance, honeyed sweetness, and mineral depth, shaped by its high-altitude forest environment and unique tea trees. It provides a refined, nuanced experience, making it a sought-after treasure for pu'er enthusiasts.
