正山小种 Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong Smoked
Zheng Shan Shan Xiao (Lapsang Souchong) is a tea with a very long history and is considered the first black tea. Xiao Zhong black tea represents some of the highest quality black teas in the world and is known for its deep flavor with notes of fruit, flowers, and even pine smoke. The smoky version has long been favored by Westerners, and when made properly, all the layers of sweetness, floral notes, fruit, and smoke are skillfully balanced, with none overpowering the others. These layers emerge in successive brews of the same leaves.
This tea is not tarry or overly peaty (Laphroig or Ardberg), instead delicately smoked (Lagavulin in Rum Barrels) to perfection. Excessively smoked tea is carcinogenic and detrimental to your health.
