A boxed sampler of eight yancha from the studio of Tea Master Ye Qitong, each sealed in its own single-serving packet. Together they span a wide range of cultivars and roast levels, making this set an ideal gift or a deep personal exploration of Wuyi rock tea.
Master Ye’s studio is renowned for its command of fire. Where many producers rely on heavy, old-style charcoal roasting to mask the leaf, his team roasts with precision and restraint, applying modern techniques that draw out the full character of each tea rather than burying it. The result is a roast that frames the leaf instead of dominating it.
That character begins with the source. The studio selects only well-matured tea trees over 40 years old, grown in prime zheng yan locations, the core rock-mountain terroir of Wuyishan, where mineral-rich soil and steep, misty gorges shape the tea’s legendary yan yun, or “rock rhyme.” Older trees root deeper and yield leaves of greater depth and complexity, and it shows in every cup.
Expect evocative, layered aromas that bloom from the first rinse, followed by a powerful, full-bodied taste with a long, resonant finish that lingers well after the cup is empty. These are teas to slow down with, steep after steep.
