Usaka Koji's ceramic pieces are imbued with folklore and the imagination of this acclaimed potter, who has been creating functional artworks since 1980, when he established his first kiln in Tochigi, Japan. Working as a duo with his wife and sculptor, Yayoi, are most famous for their hand-painted Aka-e (red) or Seimon (multi-color) glazed ceramics that adorn masterfully crafted pieces. His works are instantaneously recognizable and contain a whole universe of their own.
