Exhibition quality, wood-fired, unglazed Nanban Chawan with a dark scorched outside and a sunset-colored interior, creating a beautiful contrast with the deep color of matcha. The shape and details from the lip, round of the body, foot, and the special place where matcha rests (chadame) are of absolute mastery on the wheel. You will get only a single chawan from a firing of the kiln that will look like this!
Taki began studying under his father, the legendary Takashi Nakazato, at the age of 23 and has honed his skills to become an incredible artist at the wheel. We have always been enamored by Taki Nakazato's ceramics and their sense of balance, detail, and size. The feel in the hand is extraordinary, light and delicate despite the strong character of each piece. The perfect silhouette reveals a refinement that three decades of ceramic experience can achieve.
