Yan Zhong Lan
岩中兰 "Orchid Among Cliffs"
Yan Zhong Lan is a classic Wu Yi cultivar that is rarely seen in the market, but its delicate character leaves a lingering impression. Tea master Ye Qitong, a designated Intangible Cultural Heritage for Wu Yi oolongs, applied a delicate low roast to allow the floral notes to rise above, yet leaving much of the green astringency intact. From the first steeping, the aroma overwhelms the room with a scent of a fresh bouquet of white orchids, and each sip is an affirmation of its sheer delight. Yan Zhong Lan bears the beautiful name of "Orchid Among Cliffs."
Since our first meeting in 2017, all of our Wu Yi Yan Cha are produced by the studio of the renowned Ye Qitong. All of the varietals are grown within the Wu Yi Shan gorge and represent some of the absolute highest quality Cliff Rock Oolongs in China for the maturity of the trees and experienced charcoal firing techniques.
