This remarkable Bizen teapot is truly a masterpiece that embodies the firing technique of the region in which it was crafted. The visual appearance is unmistakenly Bizen, while the shape surpasses any teapot made there. While Bizen teapots may not have reached the same level of technical proficiency as their Tokoname or Banko counterparts, Masaaki Kobashi has risen to the challenge of creating exquisite Bizen teapots within his noborigama kiln. Each teapot is incredibly lightweight, weighing a mere 200g, with a hand-crafted strainer boasting an impressive 1000 holes. The strainer is fitted seamlessly into the opening of the body, facilitating an unobstructed flow that elevates the entire tea-drinking experience. Each piece is entirely unique, featuring melted ash textures, hidasuki rope markings, red and black scorch marks, and the stunning blue/gray Aobizen style that is notoriously difficult to achieve. Every angle reveals an intimate detail to be enjoyed over time.
