Ma Tou Yan Rou Gui is on an eastern-facing garden that receives plenty of morning sunlight and then a significant amount of shade for the remainder of the day due in thanks to the three horse-head-shaped cliffs that provide relief from the sun. This region has a unique microclimate and yields some of the best Rou Gui in Wu Yi because of its diverse environment, direction, and soil.
It is a wonderful modern rendition with a lower-temperature long roast that enhances the fruity taste and heightens the natural sweetness from the natural shading. A pronounced yet delicate task to hand fire over charcoal and allow the leaves to express themselves. Captivating and enduring, yet appealing to beginners and connoisseurs alike.
Since our first meeting in 2017, all of our Wu Yi Yan Cha is produced by the studio of the renowned Ye Qitong, a designated Intangible Cultural Asset. All of the varietals are grown within the Wu Yi Shan gorge and represent some of the highest quality Cliff Rock Oolongs in China for the maturity of the trees and experienced charcoal firing techniques.
