Juniryou Maru Kama Cast Iron Water Kettle
Prime Minister's Award at the National Traditional Crafts Exhibition
After three years, our second hand-made, cast iron water kettle by the legendary Morihisa Studio. Each piece is sand cast with the designs imprinted by hand with a single stamping. After the melted iron cools, the sand mold is broken, and a new one is created for each kettle. The iron kettles will soften the water taste and maintain higher boiling temperatures than other materials. The kettle is meant to be put on an open flame or magnetic induction and is removed using copper rings. Water is drawn using a traditional bamboo Hishaku.
