Exhibition quality, wood-fired Madara iron speckled glazed tea bowl with exposed clay bottom. The glaze is a specialty of Karatsu and appears thick and creamy but the shape is thin and sophisticated with wonderful dripping throughout. It is like a play on shadows and every angle has a particular detail that makes it fascinating to look at for hours, especially the starry spots on the front which resemble a constellation.
Taki began studying under his father, the legendary Takashi Nakazato, at the age of 23 and has honed his skills to become an incredible artist at the wheel. We have always been enamored by Taki Nakazato's ceramics and their sense of balance, detail, and size. The feel in the hand is extraordinary, light, and delicate despite the strong character of each piece. The perfect silhouette reveals a refinement that three decades of ceramic experience can achieve.
